Machine Weights vs. Free Weights for Building Muscle Mass

Building muscle involves a lot of science: a variant workout routine (change it up every two weeks for maximum results), a healthy and high-protein diet (found in Eggology egg whites), and a positive attitude! When it comes to the actual method of gaining muscle, the debate between machine weights versus free weights can be tricky. So what is the big difference?

Machine weights:
These are usually safer than free weights as the machine can act as a "spotter"--so if you can't handle the weight, you don't need extra help to safely put the weights down--the machine does this part for you.

A bodybuilder has the freedom to work out alone using machine weights--the setup process is simple and does not need to involve a lot of teamwork.

Machine weights are great for higher repetitions with lighter weights--this is really effective for toning muscles and maintaining muscle mass.

However: machine weights have a limit on how heavy you can lift--so if you're a heavy bodybuilder, this could be very limiting once you have reached the highest level. (Most machines have a top limit at 200lbs.)

Free Weights:
There is more freedom for the bodybuilder to do various exercises with the same weights to work out different parts of the body--the same dumbbells can be used to train triceps as well as biceps!

The results are fast and noticeable with free weights--when you use heavier weights (and less repetition), you will gain muscle faster.

There is no limit as to how heavy a bodybuilder can go with free weights--up to 500lbs if you're willing!

However: free weights can be quite dangerous--oftentimes you will need someone to spot you to prevent serious injury.

For a successful bodybuilder who likes to spice things up, a combination of machine weights and free weights can make up a fun and effective muscle-training regime. Whatever your weight-training capacity and level, always remember that safe bodybuilding practices are more important than pushing yourself beyond your capacity to get faster results.

Help your muscles recuperate by consuming healthy high protein foods such as Eggology egg whites. Healthy and fresh egg whites has helped many professional bodybuilders achieve their weightlifting goals. Learn more about how you can incorporate egg whites into your daily diet!

In A Bicep Rut? Try These Two Moves From Bodybuilder Michael Ferencsik

Finding the right bicep moves can be a challenge, especially when we are in a workout rut- how many preacher curls can one do over and over again? Smart bodybuilders know they must maintain a healthy diet rich with essential amino acids like the ones found in Eggology egg whites and add a new range of motion to challenge their muscles to break free from a workout rut. Essential amino acids are proteins that are necessary for good health yet are not naturally produced by the body and are therefore only accessible through diet.

I came across some excellent work out videos from Pro Fitness Trainer and INBA Forever Natural Universe Champion Michael Ferencsik on his site, Ripped Natural Body Building. Michael shares his training expertise in a series of videos designed to help bodybuilders of all levels achieve their goals. This video demonstrates 2 contrasting moves that will challenge and define your biceps and help you break free from “bicep blues”. Try these moves and tell us what you think on Twitter or in our Facebook!

Eggology Egg Whites Make Great Alternatives to Steroids For Muscle Gain

If using drugs to quicken muscle gain is not your cup of tea, Eggology egg whites may just be the solution for you. The latest testimonial that egg whites can truly help bodybuilders attain their weightlifting goal comes from Chris Faildo, the "Hawaiian Hurricane", who chooses to eat only natural ingredients such as egg whites to gain muscle instead of steroids.

Faildo is the captain of a six-member United States team that competed in the World Amateur Championships in Jeju, South Korea. He became the captain of the team by winning the division title at the U.S. qualifier in New York City in 2007. Although Faildo’s decision to not use steroids may have delayed his weightlifting stardom by twenty-six years, Chris deems this delay worth the while because it shows that successful bodybuilders do not have to rely on injecting hormones to win.

Eggology egg whites are great alternatives for bodybuilders who want to keep their bodies free from hormones and steroids. The low-carb, low-fat, and high-protein composition of Eggology egg whites helps generate muscle growth while keeping the body lean.

So if you think you're the only one that does not use drugs to be muscular, you are not alone. Look at what Hawaiian Hurricane was able to achieve on egg whites! That's a healthy inspiration for all the rest of us.

Be an Egghead--Add Eggology Egg Whites to Your Protein Arsenal

Bodybuilders have been exposed to all types of protein from different sources--whey, egg-white protein, casein protein...how does a bodybuilder choose which type of protein to consume as a part of their daily diet?

Early in the 90s, studies revealed that whey gets digested quickly and thereby is a very effective ingredient to boost protein synthesis. Ever since then, people have opted for the less expensive whey protein than the more pricey egg white protein for muscle gain.

Later on, more studies revealed that slow-digesting proteins like casein actually minimized muscle protein breakdown and helped bodybuilders gain muscle.

Additionally, egg white protein digests fairly quickly. This allows egg whites to not only help boost protein synthesis, but also prevents muscle protein breakdown. Egg white protein is practically free of carbohydrates and fat--making it the perfect ingredient for those who are trimming down on fat.

Bodybuilders today are appreciating the value of egg white protein as more and more start to incorporate egg whites into their daily diets. Egg whites make wonderful protein shakes and smoothies--an easy and quick way to get your protein fix for the day!

So the next time you find yourself tempted to reach for the whey protein, take a look at the benefits of egg-white protein and try Eggology Egg Whites instead. Share your success stories with us (in the comment box) and we'll egg you on!

Protein - Timing is Everything!

Body builders know that protein equals muscle growth. While what you eat is very important, the timing of that is equally a factor in muscle growth. As we mentioned last week, you should consume 1 to 1.5 times your body weight in grams of protein. There is a great protein calculator on bodybuilding.com so you can easily calculate how much protein you should consume. Now that you know HOW MUCH you need, let's take a look at WHEN you should consume your protein.

To maximize muscle growth it is crucial that you eat first thing in the morning, since your body has been in a state of starvation. While you sleep, your body burns your muscle for energy since your glycogen store is low. It's also necessary to consume protein, such as Eggology Egg Whites, between regularly scheduled meals so that your muscles are constantly being fed.

Before a workout, you need to feed your muscles with a protein source and follow up your workout with more protein to repair your muscle cells from your strenuous workout. Don't forget to eat a slow acting protein prior to going to bed too! Muscles experience maximum growth at night, by eating casein proteins , such as an egg white scramble, you encourage them to grow!

Prepare your body for maximum muscle growth by consuming the right protein at the right time!

What is your favorite protein source? Share your favorite combinations!

Eggology Egg Whites and Other Eggcellent Sources of Protein

When you are building muscle, it's important to ensure that you eat plenty of protein. Without protein your muscles just can't grow-it's that plain and simple! Typically you should consume 1 to 1.5 times your body weight in grams of protein. The rule of thumb is that you need between 1 and 1.5 times your body weight (if you are overweight, then substitute your target body weight) in grams of protein. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you should be eating between 150 and 225 grams of protein per day if you want to consistently gain muscle. Full time bodybuilders can eat sometimes two to three times their body weight in grams of protein, and sometimes more, but for most of us that would be overkill.

Of course we love using Eggology Egg Whites as our primary source of protein. But even we have to admit that it is necessary to vary your sources of protein so that you maintain a well balanced diet. So, what do we recommend, outside of the normal chicken and tuna realm?

  1. Raw Nuts - These provide a great source of protein PLUS they are a great source of healthy fats, minerals and antioxidants. I make huge batches of trail mix-just be sure that you use two-thirds cup of nuts to every one-third cup of dried fruit! Use them in stir-fries or eat them plain...any way you crack it-they are wonderful!
  2. Beans - Most beans contain 20% protein and high in carbohydrates which provides long lasting energy. Pair beans with rice to make a great, protein packed meal! (On a side note, check out this awesome blog post on nutritiondata.com to find out why you may not be getting a complete protein by combining these two products!)
  3. Milk - It does a body good! There has been talk that soy milk is a better source of protein, but check out this study to see what researchers at McMaster University are saying-their studies "clearly show that milk proteins are a superior source of protein in producing muscle mass gains in response to weightlifting."
  4. Quinoa - It is called a "supergrain" because of the wonderful nutrition it offers. It contains more iron than other grains, has high levels of potassium, riboflavin, magnesium, zinc, copper, and folacin. It is a great source of protein. Unlike other grains it contains plenty of the amino acid lysine, as well as the other essential amino acids, so it provides complete protein.
  5. Oats - Whole grains provide muscle-friendly protein, along with fiber and other nutrients. For an amazing and healthy and protein packed breakfast, check out this Banana Oat Protein Breakfast Pancakes recipe!
Happy Eating and send us your suggestions for variety in protein sources and recipes that you find help build muscle!

Eggology Egg Whites Make the Perfect Homemade Hair Treatment Product

Who would've thought that egg whites can be used as an organic hair treatment product? Cosmetic companies have known about the healing power of raw egg whites for some time--many stores carry egg white shampoos and conditioners that turn dull lifeless hair into beautiful shiny manes.

According to Stophairloss.com, "egg whites are naturally rich in vitamin A, D, E and several vitamins of B-group. All of them are good for hair: vitamins A, D and E are especially useful to treat hair loss, besides, vitamin A increases sebum production which oils dry hair and prevents dandruff and thick scalp, Vitamin D provides hair growth, and vitamin E increases oxygen absorption. B-vitamins are mostly responsible for hemoglobin. They increase the amount of oxygen and improve blood circulation."

You can make your own egg white hair treatment products at home by mixing 1 Eggology egg white with 1 teaspoon of honey and 2 teaspoons of olive oil. Work mixture through damp clean hair. Leave the treatment in your hair for 30 minutes (sit out in the sun if desired to intensify effect) then rinse out well. This conditioner will tame split ends and give luster to your locks.

Enjoy an afternoon off this summer and rejuvenate your hair by giving it maximum control and shine!

Great Pre-Workout Snacks - Eggology Egg Whites!

As I was heading into the gym this morning, I started chatting with a friend about what is best to eat before a workout. My friend, who is new to the gym scene asked me why body builders add extra protein to their diet and marathon runners add more carbs. This was a great question! I thought I would share my answer here, so we can all benefit from the question!

When you are training for a marathon, it is normal to load up on carbs, because you want the fuel to help get you through the race or a difficult long, training day. MarathonPal.com gives a great breakdown of WHY you need carbs and you can check it out in full, but the short version is this: "The goal of carbohydrate loading is to super load muscles with glycogen to delay fatigue and enable your to maintain high intensity exercise for longer. When competing for over 90 minutes normal glycogen stores will not be enough to maintain exercise. Carbohydrate loading is a method of increasing stored glycogen by 200-300%, thereby allowing the athlete to delay fatigue and maintain high intensity exercise for longer. Carbohydrate loading is of no benefit for sports of short duration, and is undesirable in sports with strict weight criteria."

The last line answers my friends question! Most bodybuilders are not doing high intensity exercise. Ideally, the amino acids from a pre-workout meal that's high in protein will be hitting the muscle cells at the conclusion of your workout, thus providing ample resources for muscle growth and repair. You'll also feel stronger in the gym, since protein and fat remain in your stomach longer. That being said, you can't totally skip the carbs either! Protein and unsaturated fat may be "king" when it comes to building muscle, but complex carbs have an important supporting role. By eating my breakfast of Eggology On-the-Go (which provides 4 scrambled egg whites in 95 seconds) and combining that with one slice of whole wheat toast, 45 to 90 minutes before hitting the gym, I'm ready for a great workout. And if you don't believe that this works, check out Ronnie Coleman - who uses Eggology Egg Whites as part of his daily diet routine! I think a picture is worth a thousand words!

Ask the Eggology Eggspert: Can You Gain Muscle and Lose Fat at the Same Time?

Eggology's blog is dedicated to recipes and information about our fresh, pure, liquid egg whites as well as information about health, nutrition, body building and more. From time to time we also feature Ask the Eggspert where we answer your questions! Below isn't a question that anyone submitted to us, but it is a question that many personal trainers hear time and time again so we thought we'd discuss it. If you have question for Ask the Eggspert, whether it be about egg whites or weight training, email us and we will be sure to feature it!

------------------------

I recently opened a discussion on Eggology's Facebook page and in Twitter where I pose this question to bodybuilders- Is it possible to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time? I hear mixed answers when I ask this question. Some experts say yes- and some say no.

Some bodybuilders put themselves through cycles where they spend several months concentrating their efforts on gaining muscle by intense strength training and increasing their daily caloric intake- this is known as the "bulking up phase". Their goal is to increase muscle mass, weight and size. This is often done during the winter or the colder months so the extra weight can easily be concealed. A typical diet during this phase is still healthy and low in fat, but higher in calories, carbs and protein.

The next cycle is putting the body through a period known as "the cutting down phase" where they will change their diet and reduce the amount of carbohydrates and calories- but maintain the same level of protein. They will still do their workouts- but to maintain their strength; not to gain. In addition to strength training they will add in more cardio during their workouts to lose more fat.

What do you think? Please leave your ideas in the comments section and better yet, add to the discussion in Facebook and Twitter!

1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar (or try substituting lemon juice)
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 pound unsalter butter at room temperature
3 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3 teaspoons instant espresso powder, dissolved in 1 1/2 teaspoons water
3 tablespoons dark rum (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Melt the chocolate–either in microwave or with double boiler.
2. Mix the egg whites, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a whisk attachment.
3. Place the bowl of Eggology egg whites over the pan of simmering water and heat the Eggology egg whites until they are warm to the touch, about 5 minutes. Return the bowl to the electric mixer and whisk on high speed for 5 minutes, or until the meringue is cool and holds a stiff peak. (If this process isn’t feasible, it will still turn out great if you skip it.)
4. Add the butter, 1 tablespoon at a time, while beating on medium speed. Scrape down the bowl, add the melted chocolate, vanilla, espresso, and rum, if using, and mix for 1 minute or until the chocolate is completely blended in. If the buttercream seems very soft, allow it to cool, and beat it again.

This makes A LOT of frosting, and you can chill and reuse. When it chills, it will stiffen. To reuse, just let it sit at room temperature until it regains the right texture.

Eggology Egg Whites Are Part of Body Builder Ronnie Coleman’s Training Routine

Eggology egg whites are a lean, natural source of protein that Ronnie Coleman, eight time winner of “Mr. Olympia”, incorporates daily as part of his training routine.
---------------
Body builders know that building muscle is not just a matter of pumping iron at the gym. Nutrition also plays a crucial role in developing a winning physique. Eggology egg whites – the leader in the all-natural liquid egg white industry – have become an essential part of body builder Ronnie Coleman’s routine because they are a convenient, lean source of protein.

Ronnie Coleman, eight time winner of Mr. Olympia, was recently featured in an interview in BodyBuilding.com speaking about his past 31 years of training and working his body to near physical perfection driven by his dream of achieving. Speaking candidly about his intense training, overcoming hurdles such as a severe back injury and how cleaning up his diet all contributed to enabling him to win the Olympia title.

Mr. Coleman cut out junk food, increased his proteins and lowered carbohydrates during his pre-contest phase. Eggology egg whites became part of his nutrition routine – he and his wife, a personal trainer, enjoy them every day as one of their lean, pure sources of protein.

Brad Halpern, founder of Eggology, agrees with Mr. Coleman’s nutrition choices wholeheartedly. “Eggology was originally founded by an athlete, for athletes. We knew the incredible value of egg whites as the only pure protein food available. In addition to that, we make sure, through USDA inspection, that Eggology liquid egg whites are safe to enjoy raw as many body builders like to drink them straight or add them to shakes.” As demonstrated by Mr. Coleman, a hard workout regimen is only part of the climb to physical perfection – the other part is what is in your nutrition regimen – and being smart about both of those is when you will hit your peak.

Eggology Egg Whites Are The Perfect Ingredient in a Successful Weight Loss Plan

Eggology egg whites are one of the healthiest, tastiest, and most convenient foods for on-the-go people looking to stay healthy, feel good and lose some weight.

-----------------
Liquid egg whites made by Eggology - the leader in the all-natural egg white industry – is an essential element to a successful weight loss plan. With bikini season here, beachgoers are starting to consider their options for healthy weight loss plans. One of the best ways to lose excess fat is to cut down calorie-intake each day by eating leaner and less processed foods. Eggology’s organic and fresh egg whites have been popular among celebrities and bodybuilders for years, and it’s no secret that average consumers can start losing weight and getting toned by incorporating Eggology egg whites into their everyday diet.

What makes Eggology egg whites an essential component to a successful weight loss regime? Brad Halpern, founder of Eggology, informs us that “the high protein content in the liquid egg whites help sustain the feeling of ‘fullness’ for longer, while the low-calorie count in the egg whites insure the healthiness of each serving, and the freshness of the egg whites will make the body feel more energetic”. Mr. Halpern suggests substituting in egg whites as a snack or part of a meal instead of eating something that may be high in carbohydrates and/or fat. He adds that “Eggology egg whites are safe to enjoy raw – in a shake or alone – because our egg whites must meet a strict USDA inspection process”.

Eggology makes it even easier to have fresh scrambled egg whites any time of day with their line of On-The-Go liquid egg whites that come in a microwave safe cup – in about 95 seconds you can enjoy fluffy, hot egg whites – a convenient way to have a high protein meal or snack. Eat Eggology Egg Whites to Build Muscle

I am always on the look out for great ways to integrate egg whites into healthy recipes as I continue to strive towards always being fit and eating healthy. At the end of a long day, I often find myself online looking for new ways to eat right and in turn, increase muscle mass. Tonight I stumbled across an oldie, but goodie post on bodybuilding.com that was discussing "Eggs-actly What You Need to Build Muscle" by Scott Diedrichs.

Egg Whites Can Get Your Body Bikini-Ready For Summer!

Researchers have been able to connect eating egg whites to weight loss. According to an article from health.com, a study from Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, found that overweight women who eat egg breakfasts lose twice as much weight as women who start their days with bagels".

This phenomenon can be attributed to the high protein factor in egg whites that allows for you to feel fuller for longer. Longer sustainability of satisfaction will prevent you from craving for more to eat throughout the day, which will lower your daily calorie-intake.

Most importantly, it is always a good idea to eat the most fresh and organic egg whites you can find. There are many health risks with consuming raw egg whites, so it is especially crucial to know what's inside your egg whites--aka, no chemicals and artificial preservatives.

Eating healthy and looking good? I'm on my way to my summer bikini bod!

Ernestine Shepherd Knows How to Eggcite Her Eggcercisers!

A few months ago, we shined the spotlight on one of our own long-time devoted customers, Ernestine Shepherd. We caught up with her recently to learn what she's been up to lately. True to form, Ernestine Shepherd has been busy inspiring senior citizens in Baltimore, Maryland to participate in weekly bodybuilding exercises at the local church.

Ernestine's rigorous exercise routine has been a source of inspiration for other senior citizens who wish to be more fit and look more toned. "Some people feel that they can't come into the exercise class because they fear that someone will laugh at them. I reach out to these people to let them know that they too, can exercise" Ernestine says of her students.

"This is how Michelle Obama gets her biceps looking good." Ernestine urges her class of eager exercisers as she coaches them through a set of bicep curls.

At 72, Ernestine Sheperd runs 80 miles a week and lifts weights daily. She has won multiple awards and even first place at a bodybuilding competition. To stay in shape, Ernestine has been faithfully ordering Eggology Egg Whites for the past 7 years--incorporating them into her diet three times every day. "I swear by Eggology Egg Whites!" Ernestine says.

"When you look at her, and you look at yourself...you are inspired to work a little harder!" one of Ernestine's student exclaims.

It may not be possible for everyone to be able to look like Ernestine Shepherd, especially at age 72. But Ernestine's spirit and welcoming attitude definitely inspires me to get off the couch and go out for a jog, maybe even a 5k! It does not hurt to eat healthy and organic either.

Eggology Makes Kookie Krazy Cookies Safe to Eat RAW!

Ever since I was a kid, my favorite part of making cookies was eating the dough! I never really thought of eating uncooked cookie dough as being a big risk, but of course, concerns were brought to light due to salmonella found in raw eggs. Of course those that are familiar with Eggology know that we offer the ultimate in food safety to ensure that our eggs are safe to eat RAW! As a safeguard for consumers who use EGGOLOGY egg whites in raw form, we repeatedly test for salmonella, listeria, ecoli, TPC, along with a wide array of other harmful bacteria. While the USDA minimum requirement for testing is 1 in every 8 production days, EGGOLOGY egg whites and our other egg products are tested repeatedly everyday to insure absolute safety.

When Mark Bernhardt and James Kelley came up with a fun idea for a new business, of course they came to Eggology to provide them with the perfect egg white-offering a safe and delicious way for people to enjoy cookie dough!

Kookie Krazy Inc. in Thousand Oaks, California is THE store to visit to treat your sweet cravings. Their motto is "You Make 'Em, We Bake 'Em!" They created a magical place where customers make their own over sized cookies. You pick one of seven flavors of cookie dough, choose three of their 40 additions from their add in's selection, mix it all together and let Mark and James do the cooking for you. As if that wasn't enough, they have a toppings bar to make their delicious cookies even better-you can add chocolate syrup, ice cream or even gummy bears on top of your cookie! Think ""Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory"-where kids and adults alike can have a blast making their dream dessert!

Of course, my favorite item is their raw dough, which they sell by the cup-safe to eat raw, thanks to Eggology! Next time you are in Thousand Oaks, be sure to swing by and enjoy some cookies and some dough!

Can't make it to their store! Make your own cookie dough at home using Eggology Egg Whites, and eat the dough until your hearts content! Oh, and one final tip for chocolate chip cookie dough, scoop some dough into a coffee mug...heat the dough up ever so slightly in the microwave-just until the chocolate chips melt a little, and then enjoy-it's sooo delicious!

Ask The Eggspert: How Can I Know My Liquid Egg Whites are Safe?

Question: Are any liquid egg whites safe to eat or drink raw? What is the necessity of pasteurizing egg whites?

Answer: Did you know that Eggology egg whites are the only liquid egg whites safe to consume raw? Who consumes raw egg whites? You'd be surprised! Most of us have an image of bodybuilders drinking down a glass of liquid-y egg whites but raw egg whites can be found in other food items such as royal icing (read about royal icing and see recipe that we blogged about in December), in smoothies, in cheesecake, even in cocktails!

Eggology liquid egg whites are popular among bodybuilders and also utilized by chefs, hotels, restaurants, moms and dads because Eggology egg whites are the only egg whites safe to enjoy raw or cooked! Eggology egg whites are pasteurized and follow a strict USDA inspection process for the safety of our consumers.

Many people are unaware that pasteurization does more than kill the bacteria in an egg. A posting from the forum of EliteFitness.com egg-splains how a non-pasteurized egg/egg white can be potentially a carrier of bacteria and salmonella but also that your body cannot utilize the protein in the egg white until it is pasteurized. Before pasteurization (which is heating the egg/eggwhite enough to kill the bacteria), the egg contains a glycoprotein called avidin. Avidin blocks the uptake of Vitamin B6 and Vitamin H (Biotin) causing a vitamin deficiency. Pasteurizing the egg white neutralizes the Avidin and allows your body to safely digest the protein and utilize all its amino acids.

Eggology egg whites are not only the smartest choice for purity, freshness and taste - they are the smartest liquid egg white choice for safety too. Find out more about Eggology egg whites on our FAQs page.

Tweet! Tweet! Eggology Featured in Los Angeles Business Journal

A long, long time ago, a little bird came to us and told us a big secret. The secret was that everyone is Twittering and to stay connected to our customers and fans, than we too must be Twittering. Twittering, we thought, what exactly is that? Sending messages ("tweets"!) out to our customers and fans ("followers") in 140 characters or less. Sounds challenging as we are usually wordy!

Nonetheless, we did create a Twitter account for Eggology and now have almost 600 followers. We have used Twitter to enlighten our audience about the latest Eggology egg white product, the hottest Eggology recipe, the coolest Eggology promotions and other fun things that we like and feel are valuable such as food safety issues or exercise/bodybuilding tips.

Interestingly enough, it seems that other companies are on board with Twitter and just recently the Los Angeles Business Journal (LABusinessJournal.com) did an article about the explosion of social media, such as Twitter, and how businesses are using it to get the word out to their customers. Having followed our Tweets on Twitter, the LA Business Journal called our own Brad Halpern, Chief Eggsecutive and Twitterer, to ask about his thoughts on Twittering and business. In more than 140 characters, Brad explained how he personally updates his company’s Twitter feed rather than delegating to an employee. This is what makes Twitter all that it is cracked up to be - we get to hear it straight from the heart of the source - in no more than 140 characters! Twitter-rific!

Don't miss out - follow Eggology on Twitter today (@Eggology)!

Eggology also has products such as Cool Cravings, a higher protein ice cream, and Nortons Naturals, protein snacks for our four-legged friends, and in March 2008 launched a new line of all natural hardboiled eggs! For a lean, no-fuss breakfast, help yourself to an Eggology hard-boiled egg from the fridge – no cooking or peeling required. Each egg has 70 calories, 4 grams of fat and 6 grams of protein, and comes with salt and pepper
packets for quick seasoning. They taste really fresh, too

Enjoy Your Egg Whites to the Max!

I am a fan of the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars. There! I said it for all of you to read. Last night I was elated to see Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson snag first place! She was great and it's hard to imagine that she is not even a legal adult (at 17 years old). Hooray for her! Reflecting on her gymnastics career, the drive she must have in her is admirable. Gymnasts are lean and muscular all at the same time and can do multiple somersaults in the air just with a running start. Curious, even though I knew the answer before my Google results popped up, I googled "gymnast nutrition egg white" and saw that the answer confirmed what I knew already. Many gymnasts stick to a lean, high protein, low carb nutrition plan and multiple sites and forums all suggested eating egg whites for one or more meals per day.

Eggology egg whites provide a convenient, easy and fresh way to get your dose of liquid egg whites every day! Here are some tips for you to enjoy your Eggology egg whites to their maximum!

  • Shake well - Gravity pulls the heavier part of the egg white to the bottom, leaving the watery part on top which will result in a foam-like consistency so shake it baby! Shaking the bottle serves the same purpose as beating an egg. Shake the bottle, even if you plan to whip the egg whites. You will also notice that your omelets will be more fluffy by doing so.

  • Omelets - When making an omelet, coat the pan with either a non-stick spray or olive oil. Always preheat the pan prior to pouring the egg whites – they will cook better!

  • Drinking Raw - Eggology egg whites are completely safe to drink raw, as it has been salmonella tested. For best assimilation of protein, always shake the bottle first. If you plan to make a protein drink, then it is best to stir or blend the drink for best protein absorption.

  • Whipping - Shake the bottle prior to pouring contents. Allow the egg whites to come up almost to room temperature, then whip to your heart's content.

  • Easiest Egg White Sandwich Ever - Pour ¾ an inch high of Eggology egg whites into rounded Tupperware type container that is the size of a piece of bread. Set the container lid on top, leaving space for air (do not affix lid). Cook in microwave for 75 seconds. View the now hardened egg white patty, and cook more if still watery. The egg white patty will pop right out, but use a spatula if necessary. *For the size of a muffin, use a coffee cup (no lid is necessary).

How do you enjoy your Eggology egg whites? We are always looking for recipes to share so email us or comment below!
