Eggology Makes Kookie Krazy Cookies Safe to Eat RAW!

Ever since I was a kid, my favorite part of making cookies was eating the dough! I never really thought of eating uncooked cookie dough as being a big risk, but of course, concerns were brought to light due to salmonella found in raw eggs. Of course those that are familiar with Eggology know that we offer the ultimate in food safety to ensure that our eggs are safe to eat RAW! As a safeguard for consumers who use EGGOLOGY egg whites in raw form, we repeatedly test for salmonella, listeria, ecoli, TPC, along with a wide array of other harmful bacteria. While the USDA minimum requirement for testing is 1 in every 8 production days, EGGOLOGY egg whites and our other egg products are tested repeatedly everyday to insure absolute safety.

When Mark Bernhardt and James Kelley came up with a fun idea for a new business, of course they came to Eggology to provide them with the perfect egg white-offering a safe and delicious way for people to enjoy cookie dough!

Kookie Krazy Inc. in Thousand Oaks, California is THE store to visit to treat your sweet cravings. Their motto is "You Make 'Em, We Bake 'Em!" They created a magical place where customers make their own over sized cookies. You pick one of seven flavors of cookie dough, choose three of their 40 additions from their add in's selection, mix it all together and let Mark and James do the cooking for you. As if that wasn't enough, they have a toppings bar to make their delicious cookies even better-you can add chocolate syrup, ice cream or even gummy bears on top of your cookie! Think ""Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory"-where kids and adults alike can have a blast making their dream dessert!

Of course, my favorite item is their raw dough, which they sell by the cup-safe to eat raw, thanks to Eggology! Next time you are in Thousand Oaks, be sure to swing by and enjoy some cookies and some dough!

Can't make it to their store! Make your own cookie dough at home using Eggology Egg Whites, and eat the dough until your hearts content! Oh, and one final tip for chocolate chip cookie dough, scoop some dough into a coffee mug...heat the dough up ever so slightly in the microwave-just until the chocolate chips melt a little, and then enjoy-it's sooo delicious!

Simple, Low Fat Super Bowl Snacks!

Sunday, February 1st is a historic day! Ok, maybe not as big as Inauguration Day, but a big day for all football fans, especially Steelers and Cardinals Fans! Fans are counting down to Super Bowl XLIII (43 for those that are too lazy to figure out what all the letters mean!) is only 5 days away. Perhaps it's the game itself, or the half-time show or the commercials that you are looking forward to! Since my team didn't make it to this momentous day, I will be looking forward to the FOOD!

Over the next few days we'll be offering up some eggcellent Eggology ideas for Super Bowl Snacks featuring our very own products! Let's start off with a super simple one, one for those of you that can't even boil water. You can still pull this off with great success!

Walkin' and Talkin' Food!

You have to admire a man that, at 94, is still working out twice a day! Jack LaLanne is a legend in the fitness world! Haven't heard of him? Maybe you should take a look! The "Godfather of Fitness", as he is often referred to, is known for starting the first health club, developing the first models of basic health equipment tht is still found in health clubs today and inspiring people to "Get up, Work out, Feel Better" since 1951 through his tv show.

Oh yeah, and he also likes to swim! Have you ever swam from Fisherman's Wharf to Alcatraz, handcuffed? Jack did it three times! At 41, 60 and 65! Not to mention, the second time he was shackled and towed a 1,000 POUND boat! How about swimming the entire length of the Golden Gate Bridge - while towing thousands of pounds of boats AND doing it UNDERWATER! And did I already say he was 61? I can barely hold my breath and get my own body across the pool twice, let alone pull boats, never take a breath and fight currants-I'm getting tired just thinking about it!

And at age 70, he pulled 70 boats with 70 people in them, while again being shackled and handcuffed for 1.5 miles from the Queen's Way Bridge in the Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary.

Mr. Lalanne recently spoke to the staff at Fullerton College and reiterated the need to teach kids about living a healthy life style. Want to know his secrets? He's more than happy to share with anyone who will listen!

  • He only eats at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. with no between-meal snacking.
  • "People should exercise a half hour, three times a week," LaLanne said. "And when you work out, don't take a rest."
  • Also, he changes his routine every 30 days to avoid monotony.
Be inspired by visiting Jack's website that lists all of his feats and accomplishments! I'm off to get a half hour of excercise in before I run to the store to stock up on healthy eats for my 7 pm meal! Of course I'll also buy some more Eggology for my 10 am breakfast tomorrow! If I can look even half as good as he does at 94, I'm IN!

"The food you eat today, is walking and talking tomorrow!"

Eggs and The Election?

Everyone is probably telling you to get out and vote and we are no different, it is important to make that a priority tomorrow.

But, that is where we will take a different path! We want to tell you to EAT then VOTE!

As I sit here and plan out my day tomorrow, ensuring I allow time to get all the regular things in plus find time to get out to the elementary school (my polling location) and vote, I thought it was best to make a game plan. I made sure to stock up the fridge with my favorite speedy breakfast!

I'm sure my morning will go something like this: wake up to my son yelling for me to come get him out of his crib, followed by the dogs running circles around my legs anxious to get outside, which is always followed by their excitement for breakfast, which has to wait until after I am showered and dressed. I'll feed my son, then feed the dogs. During their meal time I am usually jetting around the house getting lunches made, gym clothes packed, bed made and all those other last minute necessities done! I know I won't have much time to eat before jetting out the door-and tomorrow will be especially challenging as I want to ensure I have time for the predicted long lines and long ballot! This is one morning I don't want to skip breakfast!

I know the one thing that will give me the much needed energy to make it through my hectic morning is a quick 95 seconds...the seconds that I'll wait for my eggceptionally quick but eggstremely filling breakfast of Eggology On-The-Go! Once I hear the buzzer, I'll be off and running!

Eggology Egg White Recipe of the Day: Fruit & Oatmeal Bar Snacks

Wikipedia defines "snack food" as a type of food not meant to be eaten as a main meal of the day – breakfast, lunch, or dinner – but one rather that is intended to assuage a person's hunger between these meals, providing a brief supply of energy for the body. The term may also refer to a food item consumed between meals purely for the enjoyment of its taste.

Admittedly, I like to consume food for the "enjoyment of its taste", but I also like to know that it's something healthy and nutritious for my body. As the old adage goes, You Are What You Eat. So when it comes to snacks, I strive to make mine at home, using fresh ingredients of my choice, as opposed to buying any of the pre-made, pre-packaged, full of food dye and MSG snacks that are so prevelant on the market today.

Today's featured recipe is a snack for your whole family to enjoy - made with the idea of toddlers in mind, but great for anyone, ages 2 to 102! Treat your toddlers (and yourself) to something good, and good for them!

WHAT YOU NEED:
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
8 ounces (1 container) vanilla or plain low-fat yogurt
1/4 cup Eggology egg whites, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons fat-free milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
3 cups oatmeal
1 cup diced dried mixed fruit, such as raisins or dried blueberries or dried cranberries

INSTRUCTIONS
Heat oven to 350 degrees.

In large bowl, combine sugars, yogurt, Eggology egg whites, oil, milk, and vanilla. Mix well.
In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt; mix well. Add to yogurt mixture; mix well.

Stir in oats and fruit (and nuts and chips if you choose to use them).
Spread dough onto bottom of ungreased 13×9-inch baking pan.

Bake 28-32 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely on wire rack.

Cut into bars. Store tightly covered.

Cake with Charles & Marie & Barbara Kaye

We have some new friends - Charles & Marie. Let us tell you a bit about them: Charles is the son of a British ambassador, fluent in seven languages, trustee of one of the world's leading museums and the list goes on. Marie, who is highly intelligent, wrote books as a teenager under pseudonyms (that were published), was one of Europe's hottest models, and met Charles at a private party in Venice. Together they travelled the world, and decided to share their experiences. Their website was born in 2005 and has evolved into what they call "The Quintessential Lifestyle Navigator". Their site offers unique products from designers around the globe, forums and blogs.

Recently, Simply Sensational carrot cake, made with Eggology egg whites, was featured in the "Epicurean Delights" section of their blog. The Epicurean section opens with a promise that the "food experience on Charles & Marie will be fresh, vital and high class".

It is no wonder that the Simply Sensational desserts were picked when you discover the history behind them. Barbara Kaye, long time friend of Eggology, spent years pioneering the ultimate carrot cake recipe. In addition to her amazing carrot cake, she makes equally delightful muffins with all-natural ingredients.

So here's to friends, old and new! Let's celebrate our friendships with some tea and cake (make that a carrot cake!).

Egg Whites for our On-the-Go Customers

We believe that health is wealth at Eggology, but we also know that it can be challenging in our time-crunched lives to eat healthy on the run.

sooooooooo.....

We made our egg whites
in a compact, microwave format so you can make fast, healthy snacks in a snap.

There are four fresh egg whites in a microwave safe cup. When microwaved, the lid automatically pops up as the fresh egg whites fluff to a wonderful scramble so it can be taken with you and eaten directly from the cup... or simply emptied onto a plate (we use the cup edges to break the eggs apart)

It takes only 95 seconds to satisfy your craving for the healthiest meal around.

You can see what stores carry our egg whites

You are what you eat - choose to eat healthy! :)
