Gingerbread Houses and Eggology-A Perfect Relationship!

One of the things that I LOVE about the Holiday Season is a good Gingerbread House. I make one every year! One of the main concerns for those that plan on eating the house is raw egg whites in the royal icing that is used as the glue to hold everything together.

Eggology solves that problem! Because our egg whites are safe enough to eat raw, you can make your house and eat it too!

Gingerbread Houses are a great way to bring the family together in a fun, festive activity! Everyone can join in the fun!

After making gingerbread houses for the past 20 years...I think the best recipe can be found on Epicurious. Templates for houses are harder to come by, but who better to trust than home improvement and remodeling expert, Bob Vila, to provide sound construction advice! He has multiple templates and all make great houses!

Finally, you need the GLUE to put your house together!

Royal Icing Recipe

1/2 cup Eggology Egg Whites

7 to 7 1/2 cups powdered white sugar

Using electric mixer, beat egg whites in medium bowl until very foamy, about 1 minute. Add 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Beat until well blended. Add remaining cups sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, beating until well blended after each addition and scraping down sides of bowl occasionally.

Beat icing at high speed until very thick and stiff, about 5 minutes.

You will need to make 2 recipes of royal icing-one batch for gluing the house together and a second batch for decorating!

Happy baking, making and enjoying! Pictures are of my efforts of some Holiday Joy!
